Frequently Asked Questions
BULLETS
Gas Checks

The bullets dropped from Ranch Dog Molds are designed to use the following Hornday gas checks:
   30 caliber... #7070
   35 caliber... #7110
   375 caliber. #7120
   44 caliber... #7130
   45 caliber... #7140

At this point in time, Ranch Dog Outdoors does not offer these items for sale simply because I can not offer them to you at prices the larger reloading supplies can sell them for. A good place to start your search for gas checks is
Boses Guns or MidwayUSA.

Sales or Samples

Ranch Dog Outdoors does not offer bullet sales or samples cast from these molds.

LUBE AND SIZING
Ranch Dog molds are intended to be lubed with Lee Liquid Alox and sized with Lee Precision's sizing dies.

MOLDS
Designs
Each of my bullet design offered at the shopping cart has followed a journey from the drawing board, to the range and then the field. When the work is done on paper, I order prototype molds from Lee for testing. Only after successful range and field work will I commit a design to inventory. This can be a lengthy process as the prototypes and inventory alone will consume 8 months of wait time. As an example, in that molds like the TLC359-190-RF and TLC379-235-RF have gone through several evolutions of design, one year will have been spent waiting in the manufacture line-up at Lee just to cut the trial molds.. This time spent and dollars spent cutting the prototypes will pay in your satisfaction with the mold you receive and the performance it delivers at the barrel.

Handles

The Lee two cavity molds incorporate handles in the design so they are included. The Lee six cavity molds use removable handles and they are not included with the mold. These handles (Lee product #9005) retail for about $18 and can be moved from one Lee six cavity molds to the next. I don't sell them simply because I couldn't begin to offer them at a price the discount reloading supply house can. May I suggest you look at Bose's Guns or MidwayUSA.

Features
  •  Proven Design ready for Marlin rifles.
  •  Lee Precision Micro-Bandsฎ for Tumble Lubing with Lee Liquid Alox
  •  Diameter and weight stamped on mold.
  •  Two cavity molds shipped in container that protects the mold and its box yet minimizes your shipping cost.

Identification
The mold identifications are very easy to decipher and use Lee Precisions abbreviations. There are five sets or blocks of information in the mold identification.

TL - The first set refers to the type of lube groove the bullet has. TL identifies the Lee Micro Bandsฎ used for tumble lubing with Lee Liquid Alox.

C -The second set identifies the mold as using

460 - The third set identifies the target diameter of the cast mold. Because different casting alloys and temperature can vary these dimensions, see the information in the Warranty FAQ below. 1 to 9 (tin to wheel weights) is used as the reference alloy.

350 - The forth set identifies the target weight of the cast mold. This will very slightly depending on the alloy used. Because different alloys can vary the cast weight, 1 to 9 (tin to wheel weights) is used as the reference alloy.

RF - The fifth set identifies the nose profile. The round flat nose has a 72% meplat and provides reliable feed from magazine tube to the chamber.

Requests
I do receive requests for other mold designs and they are given due consideration. Please understand that I do not cut the molds, Lee Precision does and their Special Order process is typically the path you should follow with your design interest.

TLC432-285-RF
"What happened to it and why isn't it offered?" The answer is that it is offered as the TLC432-265-RF. The "285" never met its target weight but remained an outstanding bullet. Trying to design a mold that weighed 285-grains ended up a struggle balancing lube grooves, the center of gravity and the center of pressure. The heavier bullet is now the TLC432-300-RF. Again, the TLC432-285-RF has been simply been designated as the TLC432-265-RF.

Purchases
Credit Card
The quickest way to receive your order is to use add items to your shopping cart and then follow the buttons to checkout with PayPal. You do not need a PayPal account you do need a credit card. If you have any problems with the shopping cart, please email me. I cannot accept credit card information via a telephone or any source other than the shopping cart. That's an additional merchant service (read fee) and I'd rather save you money and add to the mold inventory. If you don't have a credit card, see the option below.

Mail Orders
I can accept your check or Money Order for your purchase via US Mail. Orders from outside the US will require that the funds be in US dollars. Your check is still okay and long as you indicate such (the dollar amount followed by "USD"). I hope this saves you some money!

Saving Money

Internet shopping always incurs shipping fees and those charges can represent a significant portion of your total purchase. All of my domestic shipments are sent USPS Priority Mail. Multiple items are sent in Flat Rate boxes to limit the cost of shipping. One method you could use to reduce the impact of shipping charges to your order is by combining your order with that of your fellow shooters that live near you. Within the confines of the Flat Rate boxes I must use, I can send up to 6 two cavity molds or 4 six cavity molds. Adding the Lube and Size kits changes the number of molds that will fit in the boxes, but as an example it is still possible to ship four 2 cavity molds and three Lube & Size Kits in the same box. If you have any questions, please contact me at my email link before you order.

WARRANTY
Ranch Dog special order molds are designed to cast bullets intended specifically for the throats and chambers of the Marlin 336 and 1895 rifles. For other manufacture of rifles or other Marlin frames, compare the dimensions from your chamber cast against the detailed drawing to determine if your choice is appropriate for your intended application. Dimensions are included on the specific mold design drawing, so potential users of these molds should be able to determine whether the bullet will meet the intended application or use BEFORE ORDERING the mold.

The mold designation identifies the target weight of the cast bullet. Lee Precision does not manufacture any mold to cast a specific weight as both casting alloy and temperature will affect the weight of the dropped bullet.

Product cavity drawings are supplied to Lee Precision so that my special order products drop bullets that are at the dimensions of the various bullet drawings on my web site. Lee Precision's Special Order Cast Bullet Policy is that these products will cast bullets to a -.000" to +003" tolerance. Casting alloy and temperature effects the dimensions of a bullet dropped from any product. Casting alloy and temperature can be expected to vary the target diameter (as stated in the product designation) from -.001" to +.002" or more. Using the TLC432-300-RF as an example, you can expect the bullet to cast from .431" to .434". Diameter varies or is controlled by the caster through alloy use or temperature and might change as the cast bullet cures over time.

If there is a problem with a product, before or after a casting session, first and foremost please know that I want you to have the product that you hoped to purchase, a product that drops the bullet you want! Here is what we do about it:
• Send me an email and tell me what the problem is.
• If the product is in stock, I will send you a replacement. If the product isn't in stock, Lee Precision will need to    send you the replacement.
• Print out the
Warranty Claim form and complete the information in all the appropriate boxes. If I have sent    you the replacement product, please indicate that in the appropriate box so that I will receive a    credit from Lee.
• Place the form with the product and prepare the product for shipping to Lee Precision.
